Hong Kong Protests Demonstrations
The aim of the pro democratic activists today was to bring the territory to a standstill Hong Kong Protests. They are driving all those activists for a general strike today. Many businesses have closed as there is something approaching. There is transport chaos there. Police and the Protestants are clashing almost everywhere. Police have fired tear gas multiple times but the protest continues. Objects are being thrown there as well. All this is happening right across Hong Kong in districts such as Tai Po, Tsuen Wan, Wong Tai Sun.
Hong Kong Demonstrations
There has been a dramatic escalation in this conflict. People are crouching down because there was tear gas sprayed all this way. Moreover objects are being thrown damaging the masks as well so one has to be very careful here. Public transport is severely disrupted by activists. Demonstrators protest for ninth consecutive weekend. The police has reported to have arrested 420 people since June 9. One thousand round of tear gas has been fired since it all started.
Bricks are being thrown to push the protesters back to a certain area. Not to say that the protesters were throwing bricks at the police, well some of them were. The strategy today is to shut down Hong Kong for a day. Thousands of people are taking part in the city-wide general strike. Shutters of shops are pulled down all around the city. Many businesses have closed. The people not coming to work are in a way showing support for this protest going on. The police have clashed with the protesters in part of the city since many people are taking part in public sit- ins.
The Government of Hong Kong Economy
The Government is going to return Hong Kong to its normal sight of affairs. However there is no clear idea on how they are going to do it. Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive says, “We will stand firm to maintain law and order.” She also thinks that the protesters are in a way challenging national sovereignty. The strategy of the government is to go hard on the protesters by arresting dozens of them yet we see no sign of this protest to end.
There are protests taking place right across Hong Kong and people want to protest peacefully but are now being controlled by the police which has made the scenario aggressive. There is a series of demand that the protesters are after but what they really want is democracy. In spite of this situation some parts of Hong Kong still remains peaceful. However this rare strike is causing transport chaos shall be remembered in the history of Hong Kong.
The Economy of Hong Kong
It has been two months that this protest has been going on which has a severe impact on the economy of Hong Kong. Tourist’s areas are being disrupted so there is loss faced there. Moreover people have stopped shopping. So the sale in Hong Kong went down by 6.7 percent. The other thing that is happening is that people are moving their money to Singapore. They are worried about the future of Hong Kong.
